[SMM Tin Express: Fujian: Continuously Enhancing Deep Coverage of 5G, 5G-A, and Gigabit Optical Networks, and Coordinating the Construction of Computing Infrastructure and IoT Sensing Facilities]

Published: Feb 9, 2026 09:34
Fujian issued the "Implementation Opinions on Promoting High-Quality Urban Development," which proposes improving urban infrastructure. Accelerate the construction of metro projects in Fuzhou and Xiamen. Optimize the hierarchical structure of urban road networks, eliminate bottlenecks and choke points, and enhance urban freight networks. Strengthen the construction of parking and charging facilities. Continue to deepen the coverage of 5G, 5G-A, and gigabit optical networks, coordinate the construction of computing infrastructure and IoT sensing facilities, and encourage eligible cities to pilot the development of data infrastructure. Promote the renewal of traditional infrastructure and digital-intelligent transformation, and construct underground utility tunnels based on local conditions. Accelerate the development of a modern water network to enhance flood and disaster prevention, integrated water resource allocation, and urban-rural water supply security. Advance the high-quality development of urban power grids.

[SMM Tin Express: Minde Electronics: Guangxin Microelectronics Phase I Capacity Increased to 40,000 Wafers/Month, MFER and VDMOS Now in Mass Production]
During investor relations activities, Minde Electronics stated that the first phase of Guangzhou Core Microelectronics is expected to have a capacity of 100,000 6-inch silicon-based power devices per month, and it is currently in a healthy expansion phase, with output increasing from 6,000 pieces per month at the beginning of 2025 to 40,000 pieces per month by the end of 2025. The products currently in mass production mainly include MOS Field Effect Rectifiers (MFER, 45V–200V) and Vertical Double-Diffused Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistors (VDMOS, 60V–2,000V), among which the monthly output of MFER is approximately 12,000 pieces, and that of VDMOS is approximately 26,000 pieces.

[SMM Tin Express: AI Demand Surges, MLCC Follows Memory Price Increase]
The price surge triggered by AI is spreading across the component industry chain. Following the sharp rise in memory chip prices, multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) have become the next key component to experience price increases. It is reported that spot prices for MLCCs in South Korea have risen by nearly 20%, and the industry expects the upward trend to continue in the short term. The capital market has responded positively. Since the beginning of this year, South Korea's Samsung Electro-Mechanics, a leading company in the MLCC industry, has seen significant gains, while related A-share stocks such as Fenghua Advanced Technology and Sanhuan Group have also risen in sync. The industry widely anticipates that the MLCC sector will show a differentiated pattern in 2026: high-end products are expected to see a surge in demand driven by the AI boom, while low and mid-end products will face pressures from weak demand and rising costs. Domestic enterprises have already established advantages in the low and mid-end markets and are currently accelerating their efforts to break into the high-end market.

[SMM Tin Express: Foreign Media: Trump Plans to Exempt Tech Giants from Chip Tariffs]
According to the Financial Times, former President Trump is expected to exempt companies such as Amazon, Google, and Microsoft from impending tariffs on chips, as these companies are racing to build data centers that power the AI boom. Informed sources reveal that the US Department of Commerce plans to provide tariff exemptions for US hyperscale data center operators, which will be linked to TSMC's investment commitments. This exemption plan highlights President Trump's determination to impose tariffs on chips and incentivize domestic chip manufacturing in the US, while also offering some relief to companies heavily reliant on imported semiconductors that drive the rapid development of American artificial intelligence. A government official familiar with the plans cautiously stated that these plans are still subject to change and have not yet been signed by the President.
