Industry: NAND flash memory production will rapidly shrink Q2 in short supply from April onwards

[industry: NAND flash production will rapidly reduce Q2 supply exceeds demand] Zhang Jiaqian, president of memory module manufacturer of prospective Technology, said on the 1st that due to suppliers' cautious attitude to capacity expansion and a sharp reduction in production in the joint venture factory between Mailman and Western Digital due to raw material pollution, NAND flash memory will begin to be in short supply in the second quarter. According to reports, Mr Zhang expects total NAND flash chip production to shrink rapidly from April, causing supply to outstrip demand in the second quarter, with total bit supply expected to grow by 25-30 per cent in 2022, down from the previous forecast of 30 per cent.

Zhang Jiaxiang, president of memory module manufacturer of Yuzhan Technology, said on the 1st that NAND flash memory will begin to be in short supply in the second quarter because suppliers are cautious about capacity expansion and the joint venture factory of Mailer and Western Digital in Japan has significantly reduced production due to raw material pollution.

According to reports, Mr Zhang expects total NAND flash chip production to shrink rapidly from April, causing supply to outstrip demand in the second quarter, with total bit supply expected to grow by 25-30 per cent in 2022, down from the previous forecast of 30 per cent.

At the same time, the inventory of NAND flash chips held by downstream equipment assemblers and suppliers is at a level that suits their needs, as downstream manufacturers want to mitigate the impact of inventory imbalances between different chip types.

Zhang Jiaxiang estimates that the price of NAND flash memory will face downward pressure in the first half of 2022. As the shortage of logical IC alleviates, downstream device assemblers and suppliers are expected to accelerate inventory accumulation in the second half of the year.

Yankuang Energy stated at its 2025 annual results briefing that, according to the feasibility study report prepared by Changsha Engineering & Research Institute Ltd. of Nonferrous Metallurgy, Xinghe Molybdenum (Caosiyao Molybdenum Mine) is located in Xinghe County, Ulanqab City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and has molybdenum ore resources of 1.04 billion mt, metal content of 1.089 million mt, an average grade of 0.105%, and associated metals including tungsten and zinc. The designed capacity is 16.5 million mt/year of raw ore, and annual molybdenum concentrate production will reach 30,800 mt/year upon reaching full production. In February 2026, it was issued the electronic certificate for a mining license with an annual mining scale of 16.5 million mt, and construction is expected to commence in H2 2026, with a construction period of 1.5-2 years.
