GAC Group boasts 156.6% YoY spike in Jan.-Jul. 2024 auto export volume

Of the vehicles GAC Group sold in the Jan.-Jul. period, around 75,000 vehicles were exported overseas, indicating a robust surge of 156.6% over a year ago.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In the first seven months of 2024, GAC Group sold 1,004,234 vehicles in total, representing a year-on-year decline of 25.83%, according to the group's latest sales results.

Of the vehicles sold in the Jan.-Jul. period, around 75,000 vehicles were exported overseas, indicating a robust surge of 156.6% over a year ago.

In the same span, GAC Group reported a year-to-date new energy vehicle (NEV) sales volume of 197,977 units, indicating a 30.88% decline from the prior-year period.

Regarding monthly performance, GAC Group saw its vehicles sales shrink 25.37% over the previous year to 141,196 units in July 2024. Meanwhile, its NEV sales reached 33,880 units in the month, sliding 32.15% from a year earlier.

Breaking down the July sales by specific subsidiaries, GAC Toyota and GAC Honda outsold others with a sales volume of 53,600 units and 33,270 units, respectively, but both of them faced a year-on-year decrease of over 20%. GAC Trumpchi sold 25,797 vehicles, which were 17.7% fewer than that of the year-ago period. GAC AION, the electric vehicle unit wholly-owned by GAC Group, saw its July sales plunge 37.17% over a year ago to 28,287 units.

Notably, GAC AION's heavyweight new product for this year, the second-generation AION V (also known as AION Dominator), officially hit the market on July 23. This new model comes in seven different trim levels, with prices ranging from 129,800 yuan to 189,800 yuan. Its top-spec version boasts a watchtower-style LiDAR unit, hinting at its advanced smart driving capabilities. The model is expected to boost the company's sales with a decent value for money and greater intelligent driving capability.
