SHANGHAI, Feb 26 (SMM) — Operating rates across licensed smelters of secondary lead in Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan and Guizhou averaged 49.2% in the week, down 4.1 percentage points from the previous week, an SMM survey showed.

The operating rates in Anhui stood flat on the week at 69.5%.

The operating rates in Henan averaged 55.5%, a decrease of 2.4% from the previous week, mainly due to the reduced production in Jinli, and Huarui had not fully resumed the work.

The operating rates in Jiangsu stood flat on the week at 18.7%, mainly due to the production cut in New Chunxin amid maintenance and lack of lead-acid battery scrap.

The operating rates in Guizhou averaged 12.9%, a decrease of 5.8% from last week, mainly because Sanhe, Dingxin, Jinlong and other smelters in the Taijiang Industrial Park suspended production for technological transformation at the request of the government.

Secondary lead smelters and lead-acid battery scrap recyclers will gradually resume work next week, and the raw material supply in the market is expected to increase. Henan Jinli, Jiangsu New Chunxing and other smelters plan to increase production. Therefore, the operating rates at secondary lead smelters are expected to rise next week.
