According to SMM statistics, in January to February 2021, domestic lithium carbonate producers increased maintenance, reducing production by about 2,000 mt per month.

SHANGHAI, Jan 26 (SMM) — According to SMM statistics, in January to February 2021, domestic lithium carbonate producers increased maintenance, reducing production by about 2,000 mt per month. Lithium hydroxide was less affected mainly due to the significant increase in overseas demand. However, the production of domestic downstream material plants has little impact during the CNY holidays.

On the contrary, some expansion projects have been commissioned and the demand for lithium salt has increased significantly. The material factory has basically completed the restocking for CNY holidays, but the demand for raw materials are likely to increase after the holidays. Prices of lithium salt are expected to continue to rise in the near term.
