Operating rates at Chinese copper tube/pipe plants are expected to fall further to 65.64% in February, SMM predicts based on a survey.

SHANGHAI, Feb. 27 (SMM) - Operating rates at Chinese copper tube/pipe plants are expected to fall further to 65.64% in February, SMM predicts based on a survey.

Downstream orders improved slowly after the 2017 Chinese New Year holiday, and they mainly executed orders signed before the holiday at present. February has fewer working days compared to January. As such, operating rates will be dragged down.

Home appliance consumption remained strong, SMM learns. Production at major air conditioner producers doubled in February compared to the same period of last year. As a whole, February is still a peak demand month for copper tube/pipe.
